CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The Program Committee invites all interested persons to submit abstracts according to the procedures described in the following material. The abstract deadline is March 15, 2001.


PLATFORM AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS

Abstracts may be submitted for oral or poster presentation. The Program Committee will attempt to respect the author's option regarding their own assignments to a special topic but it reserves the right to change the allocation in order to achieve a well-balanced scientific program. It also reserves the right to select the type of presentation, whether oral or as a poster.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURES AND ACCEPTANCE POLICY

Abstracts are to be submitted online by selecting the link below this paragraph. This procedure will allow abstract submission, review and publication all from our website. If absolutely necessary, abstracts may be submitted on disk. However, since this involves manual entry by staff personnel there will be a $20 US fee for such submissions. There is no fee for electronic submissions. The abstract website is available now, along with meeting registration and hotel information. Once all abstracts have been reviewed and the program is set, this information will be accessible at the website as well. In addition, the abstracts will be published in printed form and will be distributed at the meeting in July. ABSTRACT DEADLINE: extended to March 19, 2001 - (Past deadline).

ALTERNATE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION ON DISK:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION ON DISK:

1. Abstracts should be informative, containing: (a) the study's specific objectives, unless given by the title; (b) brief statement of methods, if pertinent; (c) summary of results obtained; and (d) statement of the conclusions. It is NOT satisfactory to state "The results will be discussed".

2. A member of the Society (Regular or Associate) may submit only one abstract for which an oral presentation is requested. Members may co-author additional abstracts for oral presentation which other members are presenting or sponsoring. Abstracts for poster sessions are not limited. Abstracts authored exclusively by non-members must be sponsored.

6. A printed copy of the abstract must be submitted along with the disk.

7. Label the diskette with the first author's name, title of the abstract and whether in IBM COMPATIBLE WORD OR WORDPERFECT

8. The disk must be mailed in an envelope with cardboard backing (or in a disk mailer) to protect against damage. Enclose the $20 handling fee required for disk submission (credit card information or check payable to American Society for Photobiology). Include information (author's contact information, topic category, presentation preference) as a separate page.

9. Award applicants must include a) a nomination letter from a faculty member and b) the category in which the abstract is to be judged (postdoctoral or predoctoral).

10. The abstract must be received by March 15, 2001 in the office of the American Society for Photobiology, BioTech Park - Suite 9, 1021 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30901, USA.

PRESENTATION PREFERENCE

Abstracts may be submitted for oral or poster presentation. The Program Committee will attempt to respect the author's option regarding their own assignments to a special topic but it reserves the right to change the allocation in order to achieve a well-balanced scientific program. It also reserves the right to select the type of presentation, whether oral or as a poster.

NOTIFICAITON OF ACCEPTANCE

All abstracts will be reviewed by the Program Committee, Dr. Charles Gomer, Chair. Authors will receive notification of presentation format by e-mail as soon as the final program is prepared.


WORKS-IN-PROGRESS

Works-In-Progress may be presented as posters at the meeting. A list will appear in the final program. No abstract is required. Send title, authors, and affiliations to the ASP Office. Deadline for receipt of Works-In- Progress is June 28, 2001.


TRAVEL AWARDS

A limited number of travel awards will be available for students. The deadline for receipt of abstracts from candidates who are applying for a travel award is also extended to March 19, 2001. If an award is granted, the recipient must present the report at the meeting. Applications which are incomplete or are received after the deadline may not be considered for an award. To be judged for a Travel Award, the following information must be received: a) an abstract of a report suitable for presentation at the meeting (the award applicant must present the abstract), and b) a nomination letter from a faculty member including the category in which the abstract is to be judged, predoctoral or postdoctoral. Abstracts should be submitted as described above.
