SYMPOSIUM 1: Burning, Tanning and Typing, Papers 1 - 16
Chair: Janusz Beer, Food and Drug Administration, Rockville, MD

This Symposium will focus on predicting UV sensitivity of human skin. It will review the use of skin phototyping, its limitations, attempts to improve it, and alternative approaches to predicting the UV sensitivity.

A special poster display will be an essential part of the Symposium. The posters will be viewed and discussed on July 7 from 12:00 to 1:00 (immediately before Symposium) and during the Symposium breaks. All poster authors will present their Main Points from the platform. A one-hour Round Table Discussion involving all the contributors will conclude the Symposium.

WORKSHOP: Digital Photobiology Compendium Development
Chair: Dennis Valenzeno, University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS

Everyone is invited to attend this education-related workshop focusing on the development of the Digital Photobiology Compendium (DPC). Funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, this project will create and evaluate the effectiveness of approximately 100 web-based modules designed for learners from the undergraduate level through practicing professional scientist. The present state of development of the DPC will be presented along with a timeline for the next 2 years. Workshop participants will be asked to provide guidance for future development to maximize the ultimate utility of the DPC. (See related posters 258-261, Poster Session II).
