Abstract-
Time-resolved absorption difference studies were performed on trimeric photosystem I complexes from a menB mutant of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. In this mutant, the native phylloquinone secondary electron acceptor A1 is replaced by a foreign quinone, plastoquinone. The electron transfer from A0- to Q (which is complete within < 20 ps in wild-type PS I) is greatly decelerated in this mutant.
