Novel Sensitizers for Photoinactivation of Nucleic Acid

Abstract-
This lecture will summarize recent studies at Purdue of the toxicity of members of several different classes of photosensitizing drugs. Experiments to be discussed will include examples drawn from ongoing work involving dyes, rhodium metal complexes and arylacrylic acids (i.e. analogs of UCA). The talk will include experiments that bear on both the mode of action as well as the photobiological applications of selected compounds.
