Welcome to ASP 2008!

Please join us for the 34th Meeting of the American Society for Photobiology in Burlingame, CA. Burlingame is conveniently located between the San Francisco city limits and the natural beauty of the parks and beaches of San Mateo County. The variety of shops and restaurants are accessible by foot or via the free Burlingame Trolley. A free shuttle is available to bring you to the Hyatt Regency when you arrive at the San Francisco International Airport, or to take you to the Airport from the hotel. Downtown San Francisco is just a BART ride away from the Airport.

The event will emphasize the breadth of photobiology, with topics broadly ranging from environmental photobiology, photomedicine and low-level light effects to mechanistic photochemistry in biological systems. The Program will highlight the utility of emerging optical methods in spectroscopy and imaging. The informal venue fosters cross-disciplinary exchange of ideas among researchers in the biological, physical, medicinal and radiation sciences.

Several symposia are planned to encourage inter-Society relationships and explore interdisciplinary aspects of photobiology. A special Photobiology in Asia symposium will feature speakers primarily from Korea and Japan. We are also pleased to sponsor a special symposium hosted by the Radiation Research Society. Finally, the 34th Biennial meeting will feature the Kendric C. Smith Interdisciplinary Symposium in Photobiology and the Kendric C. Smith Innovations in Photobiology Lecture.

ASP encourages attendance by its Associate Members through travel awards and welcomes new photobiologists from across the disciplines. We look forward to seeing you in Burlingame!
